Advice on Fishing Bivvies
When looking for a fishing bivvy, you may first want to quickly think about how big you want or need it to be. Bivvies, like most other varieties of tents usually state how many men it can hold or sleep. The majority of the time you will be buying a fishing bivvy for yourself but you may have a child or family member who you may also have to cater for. There will certainly be plenty of space in a two man bivvy for you and a friend to have a bed chair each with space left for you gear. There is no need to worry about how much room will be left inside the bivvy with you and all your gear as there is usually plenty of room left.
If you are just looking for a one man bivvy or something fairly mobile then the best thing for you would be a brolly. When I say brolly, it’s not just an umbrella, it has attachable sides and door to close you in keeping you warm and dry. The brolly may not sound like the perfect solution for an angler but the more you think about it it is. When fishing on those very hot days you will probably just want the brolly up without the front for a bit of shade but on those rainy days the face can be quicky fitted keeping you warm and dry. The brolly’s, as they are know, are very popular with the modern angler as they are easy to carry, store, put up and down and easily moved. Having a detachable face to the brolly allows the front to be open, giving the angler plenty of space to move quickly when his bite alarm goes off. The brollys will definitely give you plenty of room to store all your other bags and fishing equipment under.
A lot of the more expensive fishing bivvies will have an all weather overwrap which fits nicely over the bivvy but this is usually supplied separately. Most of the time the all weather overwrap that comes seperate from the bivvy itself will cost roughly half the price of the actual bivvy and may not allways be needed or necessary. Bivvies, especially the more expensive ones should keep the rain off your back while keeping you warm and ready for anything the lake may throw at you.
